Description

Our customers love Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolor Sticks, but we heard one comment over and over: why don’t they come in a set? So, we made our own! These curated bundles include five colors of Extra Fine Watercolor Sticks, plus a handy plastic case with a slot for each one. It’s a perfect way to try this exciting new medium.

This is our Granulation Set of 5, featuring our favorite granulating colors in the Extra Fine Watercolor Sticks lineup: Lunar Black, French Ultramarine, Raw Sienna, Quinacridone Gold, and Piemontite Genuine. These colors are useful for many styles of painting—anything where complexity and texture are desired qualities—but they will be especially helpful in nature painting.

Learn More about Extra Fine Watercolor Sticks:

“Like a Pan in Your Hand,” the clever new Extra Fine Watercolor Stick from Daniel Smith puts professional pigment in a versatile, portable form. These are gum arabic watercolors, fully compatible with all brands of traditional watercolor paints, without waxes or oils—so you may be surprised at just how similar they are to watercolor pans. Just like watercolor, you must get it wet, so tear off half the label and dunk the stick into clean water. Set it aside and come back in a minute; now, you can draw with the Watercolor Stick.

Of course, that’s not the only way to use Extra Fine Watercolor Sticks. Start with wet paper, wet sticks, and a wet brush, then blend, paint, draw, and layer with a variety of techniques. Lines drawn with a Watercolor Stick will blend with water and additional paint layers, but they don’t lift easily, so you can define the most important contours in your work and avoid re-drawing them later. For liftable, blendable color, simply use a wet brush on the stick—just like a pan!

Extra Fine Watercolor Sticks are made with the same pure pigments and high-quality binder as other Daniel Smith colors, and they’re offered at one low price point across the entire 62-color range. For this amount of artist-grade color, it’s an outstanding value and a tool unlike anything else on the market today.
